Mount Tai
Mount Tai, known as "Dongyue"(Eastern Mountain), is located within the jurisdiction of Tai'an City with a total area of 426 square kilometers and an elevation of 1,545 meters of its highest peak. Mount Tai is also called "Chief of the Five Sacred Mountains", "First Mountain Under Heaven" and it is the famous tourist attraction of China. Combing magnificent natural views and a long and brilliant history and culture, it is both a natural views mountain park and an epitome of the history and the culture of the Chinese nation. Such marvelous natural phenomena as the Sun Rise, Sunset Glow, Golden Belt of the Yellow River, the sea of clouds and Buddha' s halo, etc. making people amazed. In 1987, it was listed as "Natural and Cultural Heritage of the World" by UNESCO, and in 2003, it was evaluated as "Chief of the Ten Famous Mountains of China". |
