The rainfall of Mount Taishan is abundant, and the water is easily stored in the granite mountain. The total quantity of stored water is 300 billion cubic meters, and the groundwater is about 1,500 million cubic meters. The major rivers of the scenic spots on the south slope are Nai River and Shuxi River. Shuxi River originates from the peak east to South Heavenly Gate. It is paralled to the mid-route, so it is also called middle stream. The sight of Waterfalls between Three Faults is in the middle section of the middle stream. There are three 3-meter-high faults, and under each fault there is a pool about 2 meters deep. Water falls from each fault to the bottom of each pool successively, thus forming three waterfalls between the three faults. The ancient people loved this place, so they built a building for appreciating waterfalls in Doumu Palace.
