The stele stands just below Jade Emperor Peak. It is about 5.2 meters high and 1.25 meters wide. Because there is no inscription on the stele, who erected it is a puzzle to people. Some scholars associated the stele with Han wudi, the seventh emperor of the Han Dynasty. However, according to the characters of its formation and the records of history, scholars of Mount Taishan recently argue that it was put up by Emperor Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty.
