The legend has it that it was the dwelling place of a white dragon, son of the Dragon King of East Sea. The white dragon became a handsome youth and married a girl. When droughts occurred, he would appear and irrigate the crop fields. However, the secret revealed later, so he had to return to the White Dragon Pool. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, officials and citizens came here to pray for rain. To the north of the pool, a tortoise-shaped rock outcrops from the water’s surface.
