Lord Guan Temple is located beside the starting point of the Red Gate Route to climb the mountain. Lord Guan is a respectful address of Guan Yu. He is regarded as God of War in the legend. The building of the temple was sponsored by some salt merchants in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is both as a shrine to Guan Yu and as an assembly hall for Shanxi merchants. An opera platform is on the top of the long archway of the entrance. The main hall in the temple contains the statue of Guan Yu. In the north courtyard, there is a elegant and ancient cypress tree planted in the Han dynasty.
