Tai'an Tourism & Economic Development Zone is located in the west of city proper and closed to the "Natural and Cultural Heritage of the World"—Mt. Tai. It is a provincial-level tourism resort approved by Shandong Provincial People's Government with a planned area of 23.9 square kilometers.

In this Zone, the hills are green and water is clear, and the terrains and landforms are continuous and gradual. The natural landscape constructed by hills, lakes, streams and valleys is like a handscroll of painting. The climate is suitable, vegetation is verdant and entironment is favorable. Tianping Lake is like a shinning bright pearl at the foot of Mt. Tai, which is honoured as "the West Lake of Mt. Tai". The area of lake water is 3 square kilometers, the average water depth is 7 meters and the deepest is up to 17 meters. The lake water comes from abundant rain, rivers and springs in Mt. Tai. It is clear and pure, which attracts herds of swans, common cranes and wild ducks to come here for spending cold winter.

[Infrastructure] It built up and completed many infrastructure projects, including Shandong Provincial Optical Cable Surveillance Center, heating and power plant and lake surrounding sightseeing road. In this Zone, it focuses on road construction, and the construction of supporting facilities has made important progress. According to the requirement of the international tourist attractions roads, it insist on high standard and high quality to make detailed design and scientific construction. It uses market mechanism flexibly, raises construction funds in multichannels, which has guaranteed the smoothness of engineering construction. The West Huanhu Road with the total length of 6916 meters has been built up and put into use in May, 2004, afforestation experiment section with 30,000 meters long on both sides of roads has been finished and the East Huanhu Road is under construction. The rehabilitationwork of pavement of Daqiao Road of the major transport arteries north and south has been completed. The supporting facilities in this Zone will be perfected gradually so as to meet different investors' demands.

[Preferential policies] Investing and developing in this Zone will enjoy the relational preferential policies formulated by Tai'an City, Shandong Province and our country.

1. The tourism programs that match the conditions of discount loans approved by related departments of Tai'an City and Shandong Province may enjoy the supportive policies of discount loans.

2. Guarantee the supporting network of pipes of the infrastructure including roads, water supply, power supply, gas supply, heat supply, pollution discharge and cable television to pave till project's right-of-way.
